Yutaka Fukufuji Selected As Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of Week

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Yutaka Fukufuji was selected as the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 20-26, 2006. Fukufuji, a second year pro from Tokyo, Japan, went 2-0-0 last week for the Royals and compiled a 1.00 goals against average, stopping 80 of the 82 shots he faced for a .976 save percentage. Fukufuji, who was the Bakersfield Condors' team rookie of the year last season, made 30 saves in the Royals' 4-1 victory over the Wheeling Nailers last Tuesday. On Saturday night, Fukufuji stopped a team season high 50 shots-many in spectacular fashion-in the Royals' 3-1 win over the Trenton Titans. On the season, Fukufuji is 15-8-4 for the Royals with a 2.89 goals against average and a .921 save percentage. The Royals return to action tonight at the Sovereign Center against the Wheeling Nailers (7:00 pm). The first 2000 fans in attendance at tonight's game receive the fifth and final package of players' trading cards commemorating the fifth anniversary season of the Royals courtesy of Rieck's Printing. Royals' game day broadcasts can be heard on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata and on the internet at www.royalshockey.com with pre-game beginning 30 minutes before the opening face-off. Streaming video is also available through the Royals' website on a pay per view basis provided by B2 Networks.
