Cey & Andress Reassigned to Chiefs; Winer Departs

Johnstown, PA - Goaltender Morgan Cey has been reassigned to the Johnstown Chiefs from Springfield of the American Hockey League, it was announced by General Manager Toby O'Brien. O'Brien also announced that Springfield released Doug Andress from his Professional Tryout Agreement, and he will also return to Johnstown.

Saturday, Morgan Cey, 24, earned his first AHL win and shutout by stopping 37 shots to beat the Lowell Lock Monsters, 3-0. In two appearances with Springfield, Cey was 1-0-0 with a 2.40 goals against average and .927 save percentage. In 31 appearances this season with the Chiefs, the rookie from Notre Dame is 17-8-5 with a .922 save percentage and a 2.74 goals against average. Cey, from Wilkie, Saskatchewan, leads Chiefs goaltenders in wins, save percentage, goals against average and has three shutouts.

Doug Andress, 26, had one goal in three games with Springfield. The 6'2, 210 pound Ohio State graduate leads Chiefs defensemen with six goals and thirty assists. Andress, of Iroquois Falls, Ontario, has appeared in 59 games this season for Johnstown, registering 36 points, including twelve power play assists. He also leads ECHL defensemen with two shorthanded goals.

In an unrelated move, netminder Gabe Winer, 21, has returned to UMass to finish his educational obligations. In six appearances with Johnstown, the 5'9, 220 pound goalie was 2-2-1 with a 3.66 goals against average, .910 save percentage and a shutout.

The Johnstown Chiefs 2005-06 season presented by The First National Bank of Pennsylvania resumes Wednesday in Trenton, Friday in Dayton, and Saturday in Wheeling.
