Walker Reassigned to Worcester IceCats

Worcester, MA- It was announced today by the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL) that defenseman Matt Walker has been reassigned to the Worcester IceCats of the American Hockey League (AHL).

A member of the IceCats record setting 108 point and AHL Regular Season Championship team in 2000-2001, Walker made his NHL debut this past Tuesday in the Blues 2-0 loss in New Jersey. Now in his third season as a member of the Worcester IceCats, the 6'1" defenseman has skated in 20 of 26 IceCats contests this season, notching four assists and a 'plus 16' rating: 20(0/4/4)+16.

Prior to his first-ever NHL recall, Matt's 'plus 16' rating was tied for second overall in the AHL, tied for first among all AHL defensemen and second on the IceCats. Named the IceCats Most Improved Player for the 2000-01 season, Walker's IceCats totals reflect 130 games, six goals, 23 assists and 328 penalty minutes: 130(6/23/29)328. Matt was a member of the 1998 Memorial Cup Championship team with the Portland Winter Hawks (WHL).

Worcester is on the road for three more straight games, including tonight in Milwaukee. The 'Cats return home to the Centrum Centre on Wednesday, December 18th with a 7:05 game against St. John's.
