Sabres Recall Milley, Fitzpatrick

(Rochester, NY)... Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the team has recalled forward Norm Milley and defenseman Rory Fitzpatrick. In a related move, forward Jason Botterill was reassigned to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Milley heads to Buffalo for the first time this season. The Toronto, Ontario, native is tied for the team lead in points with 21 (6+15). The right winger has scored 20 goals the past two seasons with the Amerks and appeared in five games with the Sabres last season. Milley was Buffalo's second-round selection (47th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Fitzpatrick returns to Buffalo after being reassigned to Rochester Monday. With the Sabres, the defenseman collected one assist in six games. In Rochester this season, he has played in 20 games and registered three goals and five assists. The Irondequoit native is in his second season with the Buffalo Sabres organization.

Botterill rejoins the Amerks after playing Tuesday night for Buffalo. He currently leads the Amerks with 14 goals and is tied for the team lead with 21 points. The Edmonton, Alberta, native also leads the team with six power-play goals. The 26-year-old left winger signed with the Sabres on August 12th. Botterill was drafted in the first round (20th overall)) in the 1994 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars.

Rochester returns to action tonight when it battles the Cleveland Barons at 7:05 p.m. The Amerks are currently on a five-game unbeaten streak (4-0-1) and are in third place in the Central Division with 24 points (8-10-6-2). The game will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM.
