
Flames Sign Jason Spence, Make Roster Moves

Saint John, NB â The Saint John Flames announced today that they have signed 23-year-old left wing Jason Spence to a 25-game Professional Tryout Agreement. The 6'1", 205 lb native of Hants Co. Nova Scotia attended the Flames 2002 training camp. He began the season with the Johnstown Chiefs in the East Coast Hockey League recording 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) and 91 penalty minutes in 23 games.
The Flames also announced today that left wingers Jason Payne and Ryan Shmyr have been assigned to the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL and that defenceman Ian Manzano has been released from his professional tryout and will also report to Johnstown.
The Flames are in action this weekend hosting the Albany River Rats at Harbour Station in back-to-back games on World Junior Night Friday at 7:30 p.m. and on xwave Xbox Night Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
All minor hockey players wearing their team jerseys to Friday's game will receive $2 off their ticket purchase at the Harbour Station Box Office and all fans attending Saturday's game will have the chance to win one of ten Xbox Entertainment Systems â with six specially designated for youth fans.
On Sunday, the Flames travel to Springfield for an evening contest with the Falcons at 6:05 p.m. All times listed are Saint John time.
