Walker Leads Stampede to Victory

Bismarck, N.D. (Jan. 16, 2011) - Antoine Walker recorded a season high 29 points on 11-19 shooting to lead the Idaho Stampede (7-15) to a 102 -97 victory over the Dakota Wizards (7-17) Sunday afternoon at the Bismarck Civic Center.

Idaho (7-15) started the game on a 5-0 run and would lead 29-18 at the end of the first quarter. Walker would catch fire in the second scoring 11 of his game high 29 points in the quarter on 4-5 shooting to give Idaho a 51-48 lead at the break. The lead appeared to be six until Wizards guard Darren Cooper hit a shot just inside half-court at the buzzer to cut the lead to three.

Dakota battled back in the third quarter to take their first lead of the game with 7:59 left in the third on a Mike Hall floating jump-shot. The lead would change six times in the quarter and the Stampede would hold a 76-71 lead at the end of three. The game would be tied at 93-93 with 56.8 seconds left until Lance Hurdle would knock down a three-pointer to give the Stampede the lead and secure the 102-97 victory.

Mike Hall led the way for Dakota (7-17) with 26 points and 13 rebounds, his second double-double of the season. Chris Johnson added 23 points and Anthony Goods chipped in 21 points. Darren Cooper led the team with seven assist.

Jermareo Davidson recorded his first double-double of the season with 22 points and a game high 20 rebounds. Stampede guard Cedric Jackson would record a double-double as well with 17 points and 10 rebounds while dishing out a game high 8 assists. Lance Hurdle chipped in 17 points and Seth Tarver added 15 for the victorious Stampede.

The same two teams will square off again tomorrow night at the Bismarck Civic Center at 7 p.m. CT.
