Reno Sweeps Weekend Series from Visiting Texas

Reno, NV (January 16, 2011) - The Texas Legends kept the game close from the opening tip until the final buzzer, but fell 109-102 to the Reno Bighorns on Sunday afternoon in the Reno Events Center.
The Legends and Bighorns were locked in a seesaw battle throughout the first half, as the score was tied 13 times and there were 15 lead changes through the opening session.
The teams fittingly went into the break tied at 52, despite Reno out-shooting Texas 55.3% to 44.4%.
D.J. Strawberry had a strong first half for Reno with 16 points, as the big men Joe Alexander (12) and Sean Williams (13) led the way for Texas.
The third quarter saw the Bighorns take as large as a nine-point lead, but the Legends hung around and went into the fourth trailing by just two, 81-79.
The Legends stayed with two, as they were down 102-100 with 1:20 remaining in the game. Yet, Texas was outscored 7-2 down the stretch, leading the Bighorns to their fourth straight win.
Alexander led the scoring effort for Texas with a game-high 25 points, however his streak of eight straight double-doubles came to and end. Williams put in 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Justin Dentmon added 24 points.
The Bighorns had seven double-digit scorers, led by Strawberry with 19 and 10 boards.
With the loss, Texas fell below .500 for the first time since starting the season 0-1. They are now 10-11 on the year, while Reno improved to 15-8 after the weekend sweep.
The Legends return home to Frisco on Friday as they play host to the Maine Red Claws at HP Court inside Dr Pepper Arena with a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
