Prince George Cougars News Release
Prince George, B.C. - As the 2015-16 WHL regular season draws closer, the Prince George Cougars are thrilled to announce the details of a brand new and exciting community initiative: Walk To School With The Cougars.
Starting the morning of Monday, September 14th, the Prince George Cougars players and Rowdy Cat will be walking with students of St. Mary's Catholic School. Everyone interested in participating is asked to meet in the Earl's (1440 Central St. E, Prince George)parking lot at 7:30 AM before heading to school together. The Prince George Cougars bus will then pick up the children after school and will drive to the designated St. Mary's drop off zones. Additional schools and dates will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
"Our entire organization is committed to not only putting forth an excellent hockey product on the ice, but we are equally committed to being excellent ambassadors and role models for youth in our community," said Prince George Cougars Vice President, Business Andy Beesley. "This initiative provides a great opportunity for kids to get to know our players on a personal level, while also promoting a healthy, safe and active lifestyle."
Beesley adds, "When you see our players and Rowdy Cat walking the students of St. Mary's to school on Monday morning, please honk and wave! But please also be mindful of school zone signs everywhere and to drive slowly anytime you see children walking."
