Nine Winterhawks to Attend NHL Training Camps

Nine Portland Winterhawks players will attend National Hockey League training camps beginning this weekend.

Some players are expected to see game action in tournaments prior to the NHL teams' main camps, including forwards Paul Bittner (Columbus), Keegan Iverson (New York Rangers), and Dominic Turgeon (Detroit), who will meet in the 2015 NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, Michigan from September 11 - 15. Forward Rodrigo Abols, one of Portland's two selections in the 2015 CHL Import Draft, will also attend the Young Stars Classic Tournament with the Vancouver Canucks from September 11-14.

"We're excited for our nine players as they head off to their respective NHL camps," said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Jamie Kompon. "We anticipate our players will make positive impressions with their teams and gain valuable experience."

The players attending NHL training camps are as follows: Rodrigo Abols, Vancouver Canucks (Invitee) Paul Bittner, Columbus Blue Jackets (2nd round, #38 overall in 2015) Jack Dougherty, Nashville Predators (2nd round, #51 overall 2014) Adin Hill, Arizona Coyotes (3rd round, #76 overall in 2015) Keegan Iverson, NY Rangers (3rd round, #85 overall in 2014) Caleb Jones, Edmonton Oilers (4th round, #117 overall in 2015) Alex Schoenborn, San Jose Sharks (3rd round, #72 overall in 2014) Keoni Texeira, Washington Capitals (Invitee) Dominic Turgeon, Detroit Red Wings (3rd round, #63 overall in 2014)
