
Walk-Off Walk Lifts Patriots to a 5-4 Victory over the Ducks

Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (21-16, 71-36) defeated the Long Island Ducks (19-18, 65-42) 5-4 Monday evening at TD Bank Ballpark. Right fielder Ricky Claudio drew a walk-off walk in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift Somerset to victory. With the victory the Patriots clinched a winning overall record for the third consecutive year.
In the top of the third inning Long Island scored a pair of runs via a RBI ground out by shortstop Dan Lyons and a RBI single by designated hitter Sean Burroughs as the Ducks led 2-0.
Third baseman David Vidal socked a two run home run (7) to even the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the third inning.
The Patriots took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when catcher James Skelton roped a RBI double and left fielder Aharon Eggleston poked a RBI single.
Long Island tied the game at 4-4 in the ensuing half inning as Burroughs blooped a RBI single and third baseman Cody Puckett legged out a RBI fielder's choice.
It was Somerset's 10th walk-off win of the season. The Patriots snapped their three game losing streak while the Ducks snapped their six game winning streak.
Jon Hunton earned the win (2-3) in relief. Billy Buckner suffered the loss (7-3) in relief.
