
Blacksher Signed to Minor League Contract with Blue Jays

SUGAR LAND, Texas - The Sugar Land Skeeters and manager Gary Gaetti announced right-handed pitcher Derek Blacksher was signed to a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. He will join the Advanced-A affiliate of the club in Dunedin, Florida. He becomes the eighth Sugar Land player this season to earn a contract to Minor League Baseball.
Blacksher went 5-3 this season with the Skeeters after making 25 appearances and nine starts with the club. His 2.45 ERA this season ranks the ninth-lowest in team history with a minimum of 50.0 innings pitched. He struck out 63 batters to only 16 walks and was named an Atlantic League All-Star for his performance in the first half of the season.
The Skeeters continue the 2015 campaign against Bridgeport tonight as they return to the friendly confines of Constellation Field. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6.
