Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

OREM - Orem came up just short of the comeback tonight as they fell to the Great Falls Voyagers 5-3. They trailed entering the bottom of the 9th by four runs, but a 2-RBI double by Jeff Boehm cut the lead in half. Left fielder Jared Foster came to the plate and took it to a full count, but looked at a third called strike to end the game.

Brannon Easterling pitched an excellent game for the Voyagers going 7 innings giving up just four hits and one earned while striking out three. It was a pitchers duel tonight as the Owlz pitcher Jose Rodriguez was just as good on the mound. He finished going 5 and two thirds while scattering 8 hits and giving up three runs. Rodriguez struck out five batters tonight, including striking out the side to start the game.

Right fielder Brendon Sanger hit his first home run of the season to start the scoring tonight, giving the Owlz a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. But Orem's bats quieted down the remainder of the game, as they didn't get a base runner on in six of the nine innings of play.

Orem's four game winning streak comes to an end as the series is now tied 1-1. Make sure you come to the ballpark tomorrow night for 'Retro Night' as the Owlz look to take the lead in this series once again.
