Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

OREM - The All-Star break did no damage to the hot bats of the Orem Owlz as they powered their way past the Great Falls Voyagers 12-4 to start their four game series. This was the first time the teams have seen each other this season. The bats for the Owlz were scorching tonight as they scored 12 runs on 15 hits, with nine of them coming in the first three innings.

Jaime Barria got the start on the mound tonight, his first home start on the season. After going five innings, giving up only two earned runs and striking out three, he moved to 2-0 on the season in his first two starts.

In the first inning, second baseman Michael Pierson and center fielder Jared Foster, hit RBI singles to start the scoring. Brendon Sanger followed by hitting a 2-RBI double and later came around to score to give the Owlz an early 5-0 lead.

During the third inning, Orem blew open the game by crossing the plate four more times. Three leadoff doubles would score two runs and a two-run dinger by Alex Abbot added two more to secure the win for Barria.

The Owlz finished the night by scoring three more runs throughout the last five innings bringing them to a four-game winning streak.

The second game of the series can be watched on KPDR-19 or heard on audio.oremowlz.com.
