GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - A five-run first inning was followed by a three-run second and a two-run third as the Missoula Osprey (27-18) jumped out to 10 early runs and never looked back en route to defeating Grand Junction (22-24) by a count of 10-4 on the road at Grand Junction's Suplizio Field on Friday night.

The Osprey chased the Rockies starter, Javier Medina, after just 2.1 innings of work, tagging the right-hander for 10 runs on eight hits and two walks and sending him to 0-2 on the year. The O's sent all nine hitters to the plate in the first, collecting four hits, including a two-RBI double from Austin Byler and a two-RBI single from Tyler Humphreys.

Byler highlighted the three-run second as well, belting his sixth homer of the year, a two-run shot, with one out. The homer followed an RBI-triple from Luke Lowery - his third of the year.

Byler, a native of Phoenix, Ariz., finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a season-high four RBI, while Marcus Wilson and Lowery also finished with two hits and two runs scored.

Two more extra-base hits capped the Missoula scoring in the game, as Francis Christy laced his third triple of the year to drive in a run in front of an RBI-double from Diaz. The Osprey finished the contest with five extra-base hits.

Tyler Nevin and Brendan Rodgers led the offensive attack for Grand Junction, registering a pair of hits apiece. Nevin went 2-for-4 with an RBI-double, while Rodgers scored a run and drove in another.

Missoula's Scott Schultz was outstanding in relief en route to earning the victory, tossing 3.2 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit on one walk with four strikeouts. The victory moved Schultz to 3-1 on the year. In total, Missoula's bullpen tossed 5.2 scoreless innings of relief while allowing just two hits and one walk after starter Bryant Holtmann surrendered four runs on seven hits and two walks over 3.1 innings.

The Osprey will continue a four-game series with Grand Junction tomorrow at 7:05 pm MT.
