New Orleans VooDoo News Release

In preparation for their upcoming matchup with the Orlando Predators, the New Orleans VooDoo have acquired FB/LB Chris Browning from the Chicago Rush, as well as signing QB John Rayborn to the practice squad. WR/DB Calvin Spears was placed on the injured reserve list with an ankle injury to make a spot for Browning on the 24-man roster. Spears re-injured his right ankle in the VooDoo's win at Arizona on March 18 and was inactive for the team's win versus Carolina on March, 27. Browning was acquired from the Rush for DS Hamin Milligan, who was acquired by the VooDoo off of waivers from the Arizona Rattlers and had been placed on the Refused to Report list.

Browning, (6-2, 255, Western Michigan) had one rush for three yards and one reception for 12. Browning was a four year letterwinner at defensive end at Western Michigan from 1999-2002, playing in 46 contests with 28 starts. He recorded 167 tackles (31 for loss) and 14.5 sacks.

Rayborn, (6-3, 240, Texas-El Paso), appeared in four games and started two for the Columbus Destroyers this season, completing 50-of-85 pass attempts for 553 yards and nine touchdowns with six interceptions. Rayborn has also seen action as a backup for the Detroit Fury and Indiana Firebirds. He enjoyed his finest season with the Macon Knights of af2, where he played for VooDoo defensive coordinator Kevin Porter in 2002. He was named to the All-af2 team as he completed 281-of-428 pass attempts for 3,700 yards and 79 touchdowns while also rushing for 84 yards and 19 scores.
