LOS ANGELES -- Avenger offensive specialist Chris Jackson has always been known for his frequent visits to the end zone, but on Saturday night he was there so often it almost seemed unusual when he didn't end a play with a touchdown celebration.

Powering the Avengers to an 81-70 victory, he scorched the Austin Wranglers seven times for touchdowns and also tacked on a two-point conversion catch for good measure. Jackson finished with 11 receptions, 210 receiving yards and 44 points. Even by his lofty standards, this performance was one for the ages.

On Tuesday, he was honored as the Arena Football League's "Baby Ruth Real Deal Co-Offensive Player of the Week." It is the sixth time in Jackson's five-year career in the AFL that he has been selected for this award. This week, however, he shares it with San Jose SaberCat wide receiver/linebacker James Roe, who also scored seven touchdowns this past weekend.

Both Jackson and Roe tied the AFL's all-time record for touchdown catches in a single game.

Jackson, who is also the reigning AFL "Offensive Player of the Year," broke his own team records with the seven touchdowns and 44 points. (The point total also ties him with Kobe Bryant [Lakers at Clippers, Jan. 4] and Quentin Richardson [Clippers vs. Denver, Dec. 31] for most points scored at STAPLES Center this season.)

After eight games this season, Jackson has 53 receptions for 744 yards (14.0 average) and 20 touchdowns. He has also thrown for a score and rushed for a touchdown.

The Avengers (5-3) will face the Colorado Crush (6-3) on Saturday at STAPLES Center. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) and the game will be televised on Fox Sports Net 2.

Prorated season ticket packages and single-game seats can be purchased by calling 1-888-AVENGERS or online at www.laavengers.com.
