Avengers To Hold Two Open Tryout Camps

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Avengers of the Arena Football League will hold open tryout camps on Saturday, Nov. 1 and Friday, Nov. 7.
The tryout on Nov. 1 will be held at Oaks Stadium on the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indian Reservation in San Jacinto, Calif. The daylong session will begin with registration at 10 a.m. In preparation for their last two seasons, the Avengers held their three-week training camp at Oaks Stadium, which is located at 45750 Castile Canyon, San Jacinto, 92582.
The tryout on Nov. 7 will be held at the Avenger Training Facility, which is located at West Los Angeles College in Culver City. Registration at that session will begin at 8 a.m. The address of the Avenger Training Facility is 1000 Freshman Drive, Culver City, 90230.
Avenger head coach Pat O'Hara and his staff will be on hand to evaluate players at both tryout camps.
A $60 registration fee will be charged and a waiver release form will need to be signed during registration.
Pre-registration is highly recommended. Prospective players should clearly indicate which tryout they will be attending and provide: name, height, weight, position, playing experience, telephone number and address, and mail a $60 check or money order to: Los Angeles Avengers Open Tryout, 12100 W. Olympic Blvd., Suite 200, Los Angeles 90064.
In addition, please send any player biographies and/or game film to director of football administration Greg Gutierrez at the above address.
The tryout at Oaks Stadium will be conducted on natural grass. The tryout at the Avenger Training Facility will be on FieldTurf. Therefore, each participant should be mindful of wearing the proper shoes.
The Avengers' 10th season of play in the AFL will kick off in late February.
Fifty dollar deposits for 2009 Avenger season tickets, which include nine games played at STAPLES Center, are now being accepted at 1-888-AVENGERS or online at www.laavengers.com.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
-- To be considered pre-registered, the Avengers must receive the $60 fee and pre-registration form seven business days prior to your scheduled workout
-- Checks will not be accepted on day of tryout
-- The team does not have any hotel arrangements at this time
-- Registration on Nov. 1 will begin at 10 a.m. and close at 11 a.m. sharp
-- Registration on Nov. 7 will begin at 8 a.m. and close at 9 a.m. sharp
-- There is no full contact and therefore no need for shoulder pads
-- Only water will be provided
-- Avenger trainer will be on hand for emergencies but not for player taping
-- No player film will be accepted on day of workout
-- There are no refunds for missed workouts
-- Testing will include bench press, short shuttle and 40-yard dash
-- Kickers will be tested for accuracy, distance and hang time
-- Tryout will last four to six hours
