Sacramento River Cats News Release

RENO, Nev. - Stephen Vogt and Michael Choice each hit a pair of home runs Sunday afternoon, and the River Cats fell one run short of their highest offensive output in franchise history, as Sacramento blew out Reno at Aces Ballpark, 22-6.

After scoring 16 and 15 runs in the first two games of the series, respectively, the River Cats used a 10-run fourth inning to flip a 3-1 deficit into an 11-3 lead and coasted to their fourth-straight win. They benefitted from a five-hit, six-RBI game from Vogt and a four-hit, three-RBI afternoon from Choice. Conner Crumbliss added a ninth-inning long ball, giving the River Cats a season-high five home runs in the game.

Starter Andrew Werner (1-2) picked up his first win of the season, scattering 13 hits and striking out three over six innings. Brian Gordon tossed a pair of scoreless frames, and Darren Byrd finished the proceedings, keeping Reno off the board in his River Cats debut.

Reno tagged World Baseball Classic hero Nelson Figueroa (0-1) for 10 runs-nine earned-in 3.1 innings, before adding 12 more runs against a trio of Aces relievers.

Vogt finished a double short of the first cycle in River Cats history, while Choice added a pair of doubles to his multi-homer game. Daric Barton, Scott Moore and Jemile Weeks all had three hits for Sacramento, which has now scored 53 runs over the first three games of this four-game set.

The Cats go for the sweep Monday evening, with RHP Jesse Chavez (0-1, 2.38 ERA) taking the mound against Reno's Randall Delgado (0-1, 15.63 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. from Aces Ballpark.

The River Cats return home on April 20 for an eight-game homestand against the Reno Aces and Salt Lake Bees.
