TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers came up short in a 3-1 loss to the Salt Lake Bees at Cheney Stadium on Sunday.

In his third turn in the Rainiers rotation this season, left-hander Danny Hultzen struck out six batters over 5.2 innings of work. Hultzen was dealt his first loss of his 2013 campaign after surrendering three runs, two earned, on seven hits in the outing.

The Tacoma lineup was limited to four hits in the third game of the team's four-game series against the Bees. Infielder Nick Franklin accounted for half of that total, contributing a single in the first inning and then singling again in the eighth.

Third baseman Alex Liddi drove in the lone Rainiers run of the day with a single that plated outfielder Nate Tenbrink with one out in the eighth inning. Tenbrink reached base in each of his four trips to the plate, including a pair of walks and a single in the third.

Outfielder Eric Thames drew one walk but failed to collect a hit, ending his league-leading hitting streak at 10 games.

Relievers Brian Moran, Logan Bawcom and Lucas Luetge combined to allow two hits and struck out six over 3.1 scoreless innings of work out of the bullpen. After tossing 1.1 shutout frames on Sunday, the left-hander Moran has not allowed a run over his first four appearances this season (6.1 IP).

The Rainiers (5-6) look to stop their losing skid at four games in the club's series finale with Salt Lake (9-2) tomorrow, April 15th at 6 p.m. Right-hander Andrew Carraway (0-1, 5.91) will get the start for Tacoma against right-hander Barry Enright for the Bees.
