Rio Grande Valley Vipers News Release

ERIE, PENNSLYVANIA - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers jumped out to a 31-16 lead after the first quarter, and despite getting outscored by the Erie BayHawks in each ensuing quarter, moved to 3-0 all-time at Tullio Arena with a 100-94 win tonight.

The Vipers (17-6) are now 9-4 on the road to tie a franchise record for road wins and 10-5 away from Dodge Arena, setting a new franchise record for such wins in a single-season. The Vipers have 11 road games remaining.

The Vipers also held the BayHawks (10-15) 0-for-4 from behind the arc, marking the first time in Vipers history they held their opponent without a three-pointer.

The game's only tie of the game came with the score 2-2 in the opening 1:11 of the game. Julian Sensley hit back-to-back three-pointers as the Vipers jumped out to a 15-4 lead that was capped by an 11-0 run. Sensley scored all 10 of his first half points in the quarter and finished with 17 after hitting 7-of-8 field goal attempts.

The BayHawks only received offensive contributions from four players - Alade Aminu (31 points, eight rebounds), former-Viper Cliff Clinckscales (23 points, eight assists), John Bryant (22 points, 19 rebounds) and Ivan Harris (six points, six rebounds) - until the 2:28 mark of the third quarter when Jackie Manuel (12 points), who had missed his previous five field goal attempts, hit a lay-up off a baseline drive, got fouled and hit the free throw to bring Erie within 66-58.

The Vipers were led by Antonio Anderson, who finished with 28 points, tying his career-high. Mike Harris recorded his eighth double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds while Will Conroy finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Despite hitting only one of his ten field goal attempts, Garrett Temple recorded 11 points, eight rebounds, six assists and a career-high-tying two blocked shots.

The Vipers return home for three games in four days at Dodge Arena, starting with an 11:00 a.m. Kids Day game against the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Thursday. Doors open at 10:00 a.m.
