Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Jan. 23 - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Tulsa 66ers 98-90 on Saturday night at the Sioux Falls Arena to earn a weekend split. The victory kept Sioux Falls from losing three straight at home and moved them back to .500 (12-12) on the season.
Sioux Falls led 48-44 at halftime in a game that was just the opposite of last night's high-scoring affair. The Skyforce (47.5 percent) and 66ers (41.5 percent) each shot below 50 percent from the field in the opening half a night after both teams shot over 60 percent through the first two quarters.
After trailing by 10 points (54-44) in the early stages of the third quarter, Tulsa fought back to lead 63-61 following a 3-pointer by Cecil Brown with just under five minutes to go in the quarter. Sioux Falls quickly tied the game on two free throws from Greg Stiemsma and never trailed again as they rebounded with a victory after losing a tough overtime game against the same team last night.
Six players scored in double figures for the Skyforce led by David Bailey with 18 points. Keith Brumbaugh and Raymond Sykes added 15 points apiece. Sykes also posted 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.
Mustafa Shakur led Tulsa with 18 points and seven assists. Larry Owens scored 17 points while Chris Richard recorded a double-double with 12 points and rebounds.
Sioux Falls visits Rio Grande Valley on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. CT. Tulsa returns home to face league-leading Iowa on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT.
