Calgary - Dusty Gober (1-1) allowed only two hits in seven dazzling innings and the Calgary Vipers held on for an 8-4 victory over the Chico Outlaws in the opener of a four game series at Foothills Stadium. The loss was the fifth straight for the Outlaws and it was the fourth consecutive win for Calgary.

The southpaw Bravo struggled in his four innings of work, allowing twelve hits and five earned runs. He walked two and struck out five. Dave Roberts pitched very well in relief, striking out three over three shutout innings. Utility infielder Danny Gonzalez pitched the eighth and retired the Vipers in order.
