June 10, 2011 - North American League (NAmL)
Edmonton Capitals News Release

Edmonton, AB - The Lake County Fielders rode the momentum of a six-run fourth inning to an eventual 10-6 victory over the Edmonton Capitals in a wild Friday affair at TELUS Field, despite a comeback push from the home side.

The Fielders' explosive top of the fourth put them up 9-2 on the Caps, who were determined to not go down without a fight and won the final five innings 4-1 only to come up a few runs short. With the loss, the Caps dropped to 7-6 on the North American League season, while the Fielders extended their lead in the North Division with an 11-3 record.

Despite putting six runs on the board, only one Caps player had a multi-hit night, as right fielder Tom Collaro went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while shortstop Enrique Cruz scored twice for the home side. He also hit a double in the game, as did centre fielder Todd Linden and left fielder Pete Tountas.

Starting pitcher Rory Shortell took the loss for the Caps, giving up eight earned runs through 3.2 innings with four strikeouts. Edmonton got solid relief efforts from Jorge Vasquez, Brandon Villafuerte and David Davidson after Shortell's exit, as the trio allowed just one run on two Fielders hits with 11 strikeouts.

Right fielder Argelis Nunez continued his onslaught on Caps pitching on Friday, as he went 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored to give him six RBI in two games so far this series. Zac Cline picked up the win for the Fielders, scattering two earned runs over seven innings of work.

The five-game series at TELUS Field continues with game three on Saturday afternoon with a special 2 p.m. start time. Sunday's game is also a 2 p.m. matinee, and it's another Dental Choice Family Pack Sunday presented by 630 CHED, as fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four Pepsi products for the value price of just $52. There's also a post-game autograph session with the full Caps team. The Caps and Fielders wrap up the series Monday with a 7 p.m. game.

The Capitals are the city's most affordable entertainment option in the summer featuring Edmonton's largest patio! Season seats start at less than $9 per seat. Individual game tickets start at $10 in advance and can be purchased at the Capitals Box Office (10233 - 96 Ave) during regular business hours Monday through Friday, at any Ticketmaster location, online at capsbaseball.ca or via phone at 780-414-GOAL (4625).
