
Vipers Fall Short against Legends

HIDALGO, Texas -- The Rio Grande Valley Vipers fell 115-110 to the Texas Legends tonight at State Farm Arena. Tonight's game marks the last matchup between the Vipers and Legends this season.
Andrew Goudelock led the Vipers with 28 points. Glen Rice, Jr. tallied a double-double 25 points, 13 rebounds. Tim Ohlbrecht also recorded a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Toure Murry added 12 points.
Justin Dentmon led the Legends with 32 points. Fred House added 23 points, followed by Christian Eyenga with 21 points. Seas Singletary contributed 12 points.
The Vipers took early control of the game. In the first quarter, Rice, Jr. connected on a layup that put the Vipers up 10-2. By the end of the quarter, RGV led 25-17.
The Vipers held their largest lead of the game 33-22 midway through the second quarter. Texas fought their way back and took their first lead 47-46 with:38.4 left in the first half. Hassan Whiteside responded with a dunk that sent the Vipers into halftime with a 48-47 lead.
Texas fought back throughout the second half of the game. Neither team was able to build a substantial advantage and traded the lead throughout the third quarter.
RGV headed into the fourth quarter up 82-81. With less than two minutes left in the game, Texas broke away. The Legends claimed the game 115-110.
The Vipers hit the road next week for back-to-back games at Santa Cruz March 1 and 2. Tipoff for both games is set for 9 p.m. CT. RGV will be back at State Farm Arena when they host the Iowa Energy in a 7 p.m. game on March 5.
