
D-Fenders Earn Victory over Bighorns

RENO, NV - The Los Angeles D-Fenders earned a 117-108 victory over the Reno Bighorns on Friday night at Reno Events Center, marking their fifth win in six meetings over their division foe this season.
In a first half that featured eight lead changes and five ties, the D-Fenders (13-18) grabbed the lead with 8:28 remaining in the second quarter and gradually extended it to 58-50 entering the locker room, capped off by Courtney Fortson's 41-foot three-pointer. The D-Fenders kept their lead over the Bighorns in the second half, going up by as many as 21 points in the fourth quarter before hanging on down the stretch for a victory.
Gary Flowers tallied 25 points and 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season, Morris Almond registered 18 points off the bench, and Fortson totaled 18 points and two steals for Los Angeles. Additionally, Elijah Millsap (15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) and Lazar Hayward (11 points, 8 rebounds) pitched in double-digit scoring efforts for the D-Fenders.
Reno (12-18) was guided by starters Dar Tucker (26 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists), Tajuan Porter (25 points), Samardo Samuels (20 points, 11 rebounds) and Marcus Landry (19 points). Despite the success of the starting five, the Bighorns reserves pitched in just 12 points combined in the loss.
In an efficient night from the field, Los Angeles ended with a 54.4 shooting percentage and drilled 41.7 percent from three (10-24 3FG). Meanwhile, Reno was limited to a 41.5 percent clip to go with 29.4 percent from distance (10-34 3FG). The D-Fenders also controlled the points in the paint, outscoring the Bighorns 48-36 on the evening.
The D-Fenders conclude a three-game road trip tomorrow night at 7 PT against the division leading Bakersfield Jam (NBA Affiliates: Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors).
