Ottawa 67's News Release
The Austrian Ice Hockey Association has announced that Ottawa 67's forward Vinzenz Rohrer will represent his home country at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Edmonton, and Red Deer, Alberta.
"We are excited for Vinzenz' selection to represent Austria on the international stage in the upcoming tournament," said 67's assistant general manager Jan Egert, "This competition is always a good opportunity for players to continue to showcase their talents, while being able to represent their country. We wish him all the best in Edmonton & Red Deer."
Rohrer, 17, will leave the 67's to join his Austrian teammates on December 15, returning upon the conclusion of his team's games. The tournament begins on Boxing Day, with the bronze and gold medal games taking place on January 5, 2022.
Austria will be competing in Group A; against Canada, Finland, Germany, and the Czech Republic. They open the tournament against the Finns, on December 27.
Rohrer will be going up against some fellow 67's, with general manager James Boyd overseeing Team Canada's selection process, and head coach Dave Cameron serving as the Canadian bench boss.
A native of Feldkirch, Rohrer has suited up for 22 games in his rookie campaign with the 67's. He has tallied six goals and 11 assists for 17 points, scoring his first OHL goal on October 11, against the Oshawa Generals.
Rohrer and the 67's are in action tonight, at 7:00pm EST, visiting the Niagara IceDogs in their first meeting of the 2021-22 season.
