CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP - WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 1ST:
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - CANADA BLACK 5, CANADA RED 4 - OT
After chipping in with an assist on Zach Benson's (Winnipeg ICE) tying goal with 0.4 seconds left in regulation, Calum Ritchie (Oshawa Generals) finished the job on a breakaway 9:09 into overtime to crown Canada Black 2021 Capital City Challenge champions.
The 5-4 Canada Black victory sees them complete a perfect tournament, winning all five of their games as Alex Pharand (Hamilton Bulldogs) also scored and Denver Barkey (London Knights) picked up two assists.
Canada Red fought back from two different deficits in the game as Owen Outwater (North Bay Battalion) had a goal while Easton Cowan (London Knights) and Olivier Savard (Saginaw Spirit) each contributed with assists.
Mason Vaccari (Kingston Frontenacs) made 30 saves for the win in goal.
Ritchie finished second in tournament scoring with 11 points (5-6-11) in five games. Other Canada Black top scorers included London Knights teammates Oliver Bonk (1-4-5) and Denver Barkey (0-5-5) with five points apiece.
Easton Cowan (London Knights) was the OHL's top scorer on Canada Red as he finished with four points (2-2-4) across five games.
