Barber Poles Fall in Niagara

December 2, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Ottawa 67's News Release

In their first of three road games on the weekend, the Ottawa 67's weren't able to come away with a win, falling by a final score of 6-1 to the Niagara IceDogs.

Will Cranley made 31 saves, and Vinzenz Rohrer got Ottawa on the board late, in the effort.

The IceDogs opened the scoring 2:06 in, on a goal by Brice Cook, and Jake Uberti added another on the powerplay to make it 2-0.

With 32 seconds remaining in the second period, Daniil Gushchin, found another on the powerplay, and the momentum carried into the third, with a Liam Van Loon marker just 1:08 in.

Rohrer responded for Ottawa at the 4:12 mark, after Brenden Sirizzotti and Cam Tolnai created a scramble chance at the Niagara netfront. Rohrer - fresh off of being named to the Austrian World Junior team - potted the rebound, and broke the goose egg for the 67's.

The IceDogs added two more, however, courtesy of Cameron Butler and Andrew Wycisk, to earn the 6-1 victory.

Game Notes:

With an assist on Rohrer's goal, Cam Tolnai now has 12 points in his last 11 games.

Vinzenz Rohrer has three points in his last four games.

Forwards Chris Barlas and Luca Pinelli returned to the lineup, after participating in the U-17 Capital City Challenge.

Vsevolod Gaidamak led the team with five shots on goal.

Up Next: The 67's are right back at it again tomorrow, visiting the Mississauga Steelheads for a 7:00pm EST showdown.
