vs Phoenix Roadrunners Game two of a three-game series (Victoria leads 1-0)

LAST GAME: The Roadrunners were defeated by the Salmon Kings in game one of the series, but were still able to nab the final playoff spot in the National Conference as Long Beach lost on Wednesday.

Canucks contracted defenseman Patrick Coulombe made his debut at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre and assisted on the first Victoria goal, scored by Robin Gomez in the first period. Shortly after, Phoenix Defenseman Mathew Deschamps tied the game.

In period number two, Milan Gajic tapped in his 22nd goal of the season and Mike Stutzel tallied his 16th goal of the season. Phoenix responded with markers from Tommy Maxwell and Jeff Kyrzakos, within 35 seconds of each other, to lock the game at three apiece. Before the end of the stanza, the Salmon Kings slipped away with the lead as Kiel McLeod redirected a shot by Steve Lingren.

Gajic grabbed his second goal of the game and gave Victoria a two-goal lead in the third period. Brock Hooton closed the gap with his 17th goal of the season and kept Phoenix in the fight. Battling the 6-on-5 man advantage, the Salmon Kings won a faceoff in the neutral zone and McLeod shut the door with an empty net goal.
