Salmon Kings' Bridges Named CCM Vector Rookie Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Victoria goaltender Bryan Bridges is the CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month for March.

The Victoria, British Columbia native went 5-0-1 with a 1.62 goals-against average and a save percentage of .956 in six games in March to help the Salmon Kings clinch their first-ever berth in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

The 21-year-old stopped 28 out of 29 shots in a 4-1 win against Utah on Mar. 18 and 34 out of 35 shots in a 5-1 win against Long Beach on Mar. 23.

The 5-foot-11 and 170-pound Bridges stopped 87 of 89 shots in two games, making 42 saves in a 4-1 win against Long Beach on Mar. 24 before stopping a season-high 45 shots in a 7-1 win against Utah on Mar. 28. He closed out the month making 38 saves in a 4-3 overtime win at Utah on Mar. 30.

Bridges won his last five games of the month while lowering his goals-against average to 3.40 and raising his save percentage to .903. The five consecutive wins are a personal best for a Salmon Kings goalie, which helped him improve his record to 13-16-1.

He played five seasons in the Western Hockey League where he was 107-77-16 with 21 shutouts, a 2.51 goals-against average and a save percentage of .905 in 213 games with Kootenay and Seattle.

Runners Up: Benoit Mondou, Trenton (15 gp, 12g, 10a, 22 pts) and Dan Murphy, Charlotte (15gp, 10g, 9a, 19pts).
