
Veteran Marksman Stewart Joins Komets

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced today that veteran Bobby Stewart and rookie Kevin Kotyluk have agreed to terms and have been added to the Fort Wayne roster.
Stewart, 28, started his career at the University of Alaska-Anchorage of the NCAA in 1994. He then joined the University of Main where he played 3 seasons from 1995 to 1999.
Stewart's introduction to the pros came at the end of the 1998-99 season when the center skated 3 games with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch in April, 1999. Stewart has also appeared in the ECHL with Mobile and Jackson and in the IHL with Michigan and Grand Rapids during his career.
The 2002-03 season will be Stewart's 5th pro year after finishing his best career season ever. Last year the 5-foot, 9-inch center skated all 72 regular season games with the Idaho Steelheads of the WCHL. He scored a team high 39 goals, 51 assists and 90 points in leading Idaho to the WCHL's regular season championship. In the playoffs, Stewart guided the Steelheads to the WCHL finals with 9 goals including 5 power play tallies. He also led the team with 16 points in 15 post-season games.
Stewart has just returned from Denmark after a brief stint with Esbjerg of the Elite Denmark league in Europe and is expected to join the Komets in time for Fort Wayne's 3-game road trip this weekend.
Skater Kevin Kotyluk was chosen by the Komets in the 5th round of the UHL's North American Amateur Draft last March. Kotyluk, 22, played 4 years at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell while Majoring in marketing. In 28 games last season Kotyluk led the team with 58 penalty minutes while netted 2 goals and 10 points. Kotyluk, 22, skated 2 exhibition games with Arkansas of the ECHL prior to the start of this season. Kotyluk arrived in Fort Wayne in time to practice with the team Wednesday morning and may see his first action in the UHL this weekend when the Komets skate 3 road games in 3 nights starting Friday at Elmira.

Friday, at Elmira, 6pm (7pm Elmira time)
Saturday, at Adirondack, 6:30pm (7:30pm Adirondack time)
Sunday, at Port Huron, 4:05pm (5:05pm Port Huron time)
All 3 games are scheduled to air on WOWO Radio AM 1190 and on the web at Comcast KometCast at www.komets.com.
