October 17, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, CA -- The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League will host a pair of games this weekend at Centennial Garden. The Anchorage Aces are in town on Saturday night at 7:00pm and the rival San Diego Gulls arrive for a 3:00pm match on Sunday.
Saturday's game against the Aces is Paul Willett Bobblehead Night, with free bobbleheads of the team captain being given away to the first 2,000 fans 12 and under. KGET-TV 17 and Cambridge Home Mortgage sponsor the Paul Willett Bobbleheads. Willett is the third Condors player to have his likeness appear on a bobblehead, and is coming off a three-point performance in Opening Night's 4-0 win over Fresno.
Sunday's game starts at 3:00pm with the doors opening at 2:00pm. Airwave Dave, an Austin Powers Impersonator, will make his first appearance at Centennial Garden to entertain the crowd. Airwave Dave is sponsored by the Spanish Radio Group and 24 Hour Fitness. The Gulls return to Centennial Garden for the first time since their controversial elimination of the Condors in Game Four of last season's Taylor Cup Playoffs opening round.
Fans are welcome to join the team after Sunday's game for the first "Skate with the Condors" of the season. Any fan in attendance can skate on the ice with the team after the contest. Limited skate rental is available for $3 or you can bring your own. Also, this weekend is the first Fiesta Sunday on the Centennial Garden plaza. From 1:00-3:00pm, there will be live music from the band Crush 49, as well as entertainment from Chuck-O the Clown, magician Ron Saylor and bounce houses. Admission to the Fiesta Sunday is free.
Single-game tickets are available through the Centennial Garden Box Office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location.
