Payerl, 21, skated in five games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, potting his first professional goal on Oct. 28 at Hershey. He spent the last season with the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League, setting career highs with 22 goals, 47 points and 106 penalty minutes over 61 games.
Payerl signed an amateur try-out agreement with the Penguins on Apr. 10, registering an assist over two games.
