Connecticut Whale News Release
The Whale split a pair of games this past week, with a shootout win on the road and a home loss. Cam Talbot made 43 saves, tying his pro career high, and went 5/5 in the shootout, in a 2-1 win Friday in Albany, but a four-game Whale win streak ended with a thud Sunday at the XL Center, as the Springfield Falcons came to town and thumped the Whale by a score of 10-2. Tommy Grant scored a goal Sunday and had an assist Friday, extending a point-scoring streak to a pro career-best five games (4-1-5).

This week:
The Whale play their first three-games-in-three days stretch of the season, with all three contests on the road. The Whale get another crack at Springfield this Friday, visiting the Falcons at 7:00 PM, then head on to Worcester to battle the Sharks on Saturday (7:00). On Sunday the Whale will be in Bridgeport for their second meeting of the season with the Sound Tigers, with faceoff at 3:00.
Friday, November 9 at Springfield Falcons (MassMutual Center), 7:00 p.m.
- This is the second game of a home-and-home series between the I-91 rivals, with the Whale looking for some revenge for the 10-2 strafing they absorbed at the hands of the Falcons Sunday in Hartford.
- Ex-Whale Tim Erixon (1-3-4, +6) and Jonathan Audy-Marchessault (1-2-3, +4) did much of the damage against their old club in Sunday's Falcons win, and Ryan Johansen and Nick Drazenovic had two goals apiece.
- At 6-1-0-2 for 14 points, Springfield is now tied with the Abbotsford Heat for the top points percentage in the AHL, at .778.
- Seven of the Falcons' nine games thus far have been at home, where they are 4-1-0-2. The Whale were 4-2-0-0 in six visits to Springfield last year.
- Radio - live with Bob Crawford on "Beethoven Radio" AM 1290, and on-line at www.ctwhale.com.
Saturday, November 10 at Worcester Sharks (DCU Center), 7:00 p.m.
- This is the first of four meetings on the year between the Whale and the Sharks, and the first of two visits by the Whale to Worcester.
- The Whale won three of their four games against the Sharks last season, and the two clubs split a pair of battles in Worcester.
- Worcester is 4-4-1-1 for ten points on the season, and is 3-0-1-0 in its last four games.
- Former Whale forward Tim Kennedy is the Sharks' leading point-scorer, with four goals and five assists for nine points.
- Radio - live with Bob Crawford on "The Rock" 106.9 WCCC-FM. All Whale Saturday night games this year will be beamed on The Rock 106.9 WCCC's 50,000 watts of power. Also available on-line at www.ctwhale.com.
Sunday, November 11 at Bridgeport Sound Tigers (Webster Bank Arena), 3:00 p.m.
- This is the Whale's second encounter of the season with their in-state rivals the Sound Tigers. Connecticut and Bridgeport also met on opening night, October 12, at the XL Center, with the Sound Tigers coming away with a 6-4 triumph.
- Bridgeport has dropped two of its last three, but still stands two games above .500, at 5-3-0-0 for ten points.
- Left-wing Nino Niederreiter, who had a goal and two assists in the Sound Tigers' season-opening win in Hartford, leads Bridgeport in goals and points, with 5-4-9.
- The Whale were winless in five visits to Bridgeport last season, but three of those defeats were in overtime.
- Radio - live with Bob Crawford on "Beethoven Radio" AM 1290, and on-line at www.ctwhale.com.
