LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

vs. WB/Scranton (11/2): Former Manchester Monarchs goaltender and current Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton Penguins netminder Jeff Zatkoff posted his first shutout of the season defeating Manchester, 3-0, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Left wing Eric Tangradi, defenseman Dylan Reese and right wing Paul Thompson scored for the Penguins. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (5-2-0) took his second loss of the season making saves on 26-of-28 shots. Zatkoff (2-4-0) earned his first shutout and second victory of the season making saves on all 33 shots faced. Manchester went 0-for-5 on the power play. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was 2-for-6 with the man advantage.

@ Worcester (11/4): The Manchester Monarchs lost a goaltending duel against the Worcester Sharks, a 1-0 shootout loss, at the DCU Center on Sunday afternoon, marking their second straight game without scoring a goal. Left wing John McCarthy and centers Jon Matsumoto and James Sheppard scored in the shootout for the Sharks victory. Monarchs netminder Martin Jones (5-2-1) took his first shootout loss of the season and earned his second shutout of the season making saves on all 38 shots he faced and stopping 1-of-4 shootout attempts. Sharks goaltender Alex Stalock (4-2-0) earned his first shutout of the season and fourth victory of the season making 27 saves on 27 shots and stopping 3-of-5 shootout snipers. Manchester went 0-for-4 on the power play. Worcester was 0-for-7 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (5-2-0-1) sit in first place in the Atlantic Division with 11 points. The Worcester Sharks (4-4-1-1) and the St. John's IceCaps (5-6-0-0) are tied for second in the division with 10 points each. The Portland Pirates (4-3-1-0) rank fourth in the division with nine points. The Providence Bruins (3-5-0-0) are in fifth place in division with six points.

Manchester was shutout in consecutive games for the first time since March 12 and 17 in 2010 when they lost 4-0 and 2-0 against the Pirates and the Syracuse Crunch, respectively.

The Monarchs are 2-0-0-1 on the road and are 3-2-0-0 at home this season.

Manchester is 8-for-34 (23.5%) on the power play this season which ranks fifth in the American Hockey League.

Right wing Brandon Kozun (2-6=8) leads the team in both assists (six) and points (eight).

Kozun had a six-game point streak (2-6=8) snapped in a 3-0 loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday, November 2.

Kozun tallied the game-winning goals against the Sharks on Saturday, October 27 and against the Binghamton Senators on Sunday, October 28.

Kozun leads the team with two game-winning goals this season.

Defenseman David Kolomatis (3-3=6), center Andrei Loktionov (3-3=6), center Andy Andreoff (3-1=4) and right wing Tyler Toffoli (3-2=5) are tied for the team lead in goals scored with three tallies.

Kolomatis and Loktionov are tied for second on the team with six points each.

All three of Kolomatis' goals this season have come when the team was on a power play. His three power play goals lead the team and are tied for second in the AHL.

Loktionov had a four-game point streak (2-3=5) snapped in a 3-0 loss to the Penguins on Friday, November 2.

Andreoff tallied the game-winning goal at 1:43 of the third period on Opening Night against the Bruins on Friday, October 12.

Toffoli had a four-game point streak (2-2=4) snapped on Saturday, October 27.

Toffoli scored his first professional shorthanded goal against the Pirates on October 20.

Toffoli ranks fourth on the Monarchs with five points.

Center Linden Vey (2-2=4), defenseman Slava Voynov (2-2=4), left wing Marc-Andre Cliche (1-3=4), defenseman Jake Muzzin (0-4=4), left wing Richard Clune (1-3=4), defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (0-4=4), right wing Stefan Legein (0-4=4) and Andreoff are tied for fifth on the team in points with four each.

Vey tallied an assist and the game-winning goal against the Pirates on October 20 for his first multi-point game of the season.

Voynov tallied a goal and an assist in his first multi-point game of the season against the Pirates on Saturday, October 20.

Voynov tallied a shorthanded goal in a 5-1 victory over the Sharks on Saturday, October 27. The shorthanded goal was the Monarchs third this season which is tied for second place in the AHL.

Cliche had a four-game point streak (1-3=4) snapped in a 3-0 loss to the Penguins on Friday, November 2.

Cliche leads the team with 24 shots on goal this season.

Cliche ranks third on the Monarchs all-time games played list with 292.

Cliche tallied his first goal of the season in a 5-1 victory over the Sharks on Saturday, October 27. The goal was Cliche's 59th goal in a Monarchs uniform ranking ninth of the franchise's all-time list.

Clune leads the team and is tied for 18th in the AHL with 28 penalty minutes.

Clune's 720 penalty minutes rank second on the Monarchs all-time career penalty minutes list.

Bodnarchuk leads the team in plus/minus with a plus-5. In two games against his former team, Bodnarchuk has registered two assists, two shots and a plus-1 rating versus Providence.

Legein had a four-game assist and point streak (0-4=4) snapped in a 3-0 loss to eh Penguins on Friday, November 2.

Left wing Tanner Pearson (2-1=3) ranks 13th place on the Monarchs with three points.

Pearson made his professional debut with the Monarchs against the Bruins on Friday, October 12.

Pearson registered his first professional goals and points against the Pirates on October 20, registering two goals and an assist in the Monarchs 6-4 victory.

Left wing Dwight King (0-2=2) and defenseman Nick Deslauriers (0-2=2) are tied for 14th on the team in scoring with two points each.

King made his season debut with the Monarchs on Saturday, October 27 against the Sharks registering two assists in the game.

Last season, King was recalled by the Los Angeles Kings on February 10, 2012. He appeared in 27 regular season games totaling five goals and nine assists for 14 points. King also appeared in 20 playoff games for Los Angeles totaling five goals and three assists for eight points and 13 penalty minutes.

Center Robbie Czarnik (1-0=1), defenseman Andrew Campbell (0-1=1), left wing Nikolay Prokhorkin (0-1=1), defenseman Thomas Hickey (0-1=1) and goaltender Martin Jones (0-1=1) are tied for 16th place on the Monarchs with one point each this season.

Czarnik recorded the first goal by a Monarchs player at the Verizon Wireless Arena for the 2012-13 regular season in a 4-3 defeat to the Bruins on Friday, October 19.

Campbell appeared in his 300th professional game (all with the Monarchs) against the Devils on Saturday, October 13. Campbell's 303 games rank second all-time on the Monarchs most games played list.

Campbell did not dress for the Monarchs on Sunday, October 28. It was his first game missed since March 13, 2011.

Prokhorkin tallied an assist on Kolomatis' game-winning goal against the Albany Devils on Saturday, October 13. The game also marked Prokhorkin's AHL debut.

Hickey tallied his first point of the season, an assist, on the game-winning goal against the Senators on Sunday, October 28.

Defenseman Mike Matczak (0-0=0) made his Monarchs debut against the Sharks on Sunday, November 4.

Left wing David Meckler (0-0=0) made his season debut against the Sharks on Sunday, November 4.

Jones (5-2-1) has not given up a goal in the last 97:19 minutes.

Jones has played in all eight of the Monarchs games of the season registering a 1.62 goals-against-average, a 0.939 save percentage and stopping 137-of-148 shots attempts.

Mullets In Movember - The Monarchs players and employees have begun growing their moustaches as the team does its part to raise awareness in men's health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that effect men. The first 3,000 fans to the second annual Mullets In Movember will receive mullet wigs and moustaches on Saturday, November 10, 2012 when the team hosts the Providence Bruins at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Teaming Up For Warmth Coat Drive - Also at the Monarchs Mullets In Movember game is the Teaming Up For Warmth Coat Drive. On Saturday, November 10, 2012, the Monarchs will be collecting unwanted coats from fans and donating them to families in need when the Monarchs host the Providence Bruins at the Verizon Wireless Arena at 7:00 p.m.

Education Day - Join us as the Monarchs turn the Verizon Wireless Arena the state's largest classroom for the third annual Education Day, presented by New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation. The Monarchs will take on the Adirondack Phantoms on Wednesday November 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Students in attendance will receive a special School Day Booklet, presented by New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation.
