August 5, 2012 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Vancouver Canadians News Release
(PK Park - Eugene, OR) - After building up a seven-run lead, the Canadians watched Eugene pull them to within a pair before 1B Art Charles smacked his third double of Saturday night's game to help Vancouver to an 8-5 victory, extending the C's winning ways to five games.
The night belonged to the Canadians 6'6" first baseman that went 3-for-5 with three doubles and four RBI in the win over Eugene. 3B Kellen Sweeney was also a factor as he managed a pair of hits including a double in the top of the 8th inning off of Emeralds reliever RHP Joe Church, one of seven pitchers used by Eugene manager Pat Murphy.
Vancouver got 5 2/3 innings out of LHP Kyle Anderson who improved to 3-2 on the season as he scattered four hits over his outing while giving up four earned runs before giving way to RHP Tucker Donahue (0.1IP); RHP Bryan Longpre (1.0IP) and RHP Arik Sikula (2.0IP) who grabbed his 4th save of the summer over his pair of innings.
With the win, Vancouver improves to 8-4 (.667) on the second half of the season and move two full games clear of Eugene for top spot in the Northwest League's West Division.
