Everett AquaSox News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The AquaSox (33-17, 5-7) dropped the final game of the series against the Volcanoes (18-32, 5-7) Sunday night by a score of 9-5, marking the first time the Sox have lost a series at home this season. Salem-Keizer scored eight of their nine runs in the final three frames.

AquaSox starter Dylan Unsworth tossed seven innings for the second straight outing and third time this season, giving up just three runs to earn the quality start. The 19-year-old right-hander didn't allow a walk in the no-decision.

Both clubs scored in the first inning, with Mike Zunino homering to right-center field in the home half of the inning to give the Sox an early 2-1 advantage. The Frogs picked up another run in the third when Zunino grounded out, plating Jamodrick McGruder, who reached third base on a leadoff triple.

Salem-Keizer tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the seventh with one swing of the bat on a two-run homer by catcher Dashenko Ricardo. Volcanoes right fielder Mac Williamson broke the tie in the eighth with a home run of his own, giving Salem-Keizer a late lead.

The Frogs refused to go down quietly, adding two runs in the bottom of the eighth to narrow the Volcanoes' lead to one-run, but Salem-Keizer responded in the top of the ninth with three runs to take a commanding 9-5 lead that would hold.

The AquaSox continue the homestand Monday when they begin a five-game series with the Boise Hawks. Left-hander Scott DeCecco (1-1, 3.23 ERA) will be on the bump, and will be opposed by right-hander Justin Amlung (0-0, 0.00 ERA) of Boise.
