Spokane Indians News Release

Spokane, WA -Unfortunately for the Spokane Indians, the fireworks didn't start until after Saturday night's game against Boise. After mounting a late comeback win over the Hawks a night before, the Indians fell behind in the fifth inning and failed to muster a rally on their way to a 6-2 loss to Boise in front of 7,012 fans at Avista Stadium for Fireworks Night presented by Hallmark Suzuki and The Big 99.9 Coyote Country.

The Hawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first against Spokane's Connor Sadzeck, but the big right-hander battled back, allowing no runs over the next three frames while tying a season-high with seven strikeouts.

The Indians got one of those runs back in the second on an RBI groundout from Joe Maloney and another in the third on a triple to centerfield from last night's hero Cam Schiller. That ended the scoring for Spokane though, as Boise starter Tayler Scott (4-1) and two Hawks relievers combined to keep the Indians at bay through the game's final six frames.

The Hawks scored once in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings against Shawn Blackwell (1-2) and capped off their night with a run in the ninth against Carlos Melo.

Schiller's two base hits gave him nine over the last three games while Maloney's RBI was his fifth in three games. Maloney, Gabriel Roa, Royce Bolinger, Ryan Rua, and Preston Beck each had one hit in the loss.

Tomorrow is the series finale against Boise and is Red Out Night presented by Premera Blue Cross, 101.1 Rock "˜N' Roll's Greatest Hits, and 1050 The Key.
