
USHL Names Two Storm Players to Players of the Week List

Kearney, NE. - The United States Hockey League (USHL) has named two Tri-City Storm players to its weekly "Players of the Week" list. Johnny McDermott has been named the USHL Forward of the Week and Filip Larsson has been awarded Goalie of the Week honors. This is the second time this season the Storm have had a player honored with player of the week honors. Filip Larsson was previously named goalie of the week on October 23rd. With both Storm players making this week's list, this marks the first time this season that the Storm have had multiple players named to the same "Players of the Week" list.
Johnny McDermott, 20, of Darien, Connecticut becomes the first Storm player this season to pick up "Forward of the Week" honors. McDermott netted three goals this weekend during the Storm's sweep of Madison. McDermott also added an assist and finished the weekend with a +5 rating for Tri-City. In both of the Storm's victories, McDermott recorded the game winning goal. McDermott is one of six Storm players to play in all eighteen games this season. He is tied for the team lead in goals with 5, and assists 5 assists on the season for a 10 point total. McDermott is committed to Providence College.
Filip Larsson, 19, of Stockholm, Sweden becomes the first Storm player this season to be named to multiple USHL "Player of the Week' lists. This is the second "Goalie of the Week" honor for Larsson this season. This weekend, Larsson picked up both victories in net for the Storm and posted a shutout of Madison on Saturday night. He stopped 42 of 44 shots faced on the weekend. Larsson leads the USHL with thirteen wins on the season, and his shutout of Madison on Saturday night was his league leading fourth of the season. Larsson was drafted in the 6th round of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings.
