Urena Named Southern League All-Star

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville Suns starting right-handed pitcher Jose Urena has been added to the Southern League All-Star South Division roster, announced by the Southern League this afternoon.

Urena will join other Suns All-Stars outfielder Brady Shoemaker and left-handed pitcher Justin Nicolino at the 2014 Southern League All-Star Game at AT&T Field on Tuesday June 17 at 7:15 p.m. in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Urena is 6-3 this season with a 4.22 ERA in 12 starts for Jacksonville, striking out 46 batters in his 70 and a third innings on the mound.

Urena is listed by Baseball America as the Miami Marlins' seventh best prospect in the organization, and this is his first season at the Double-A level. The Suns are 9-3 during his 12 starts this season, and Jacksonville won eight games when he started in a row from April 18 from May 26.

Tonight the Suns will start the righty Angel Sanchez (0-8, 6.52), with the Smokies set to throw out a right-hander of their own in Joe Gardner (1-0, 0.98).
