
Lookouts Defeat Braves 2-1 in Series Finale

PEARL, MS -- Trustmark Park managed to escape a stormy evening in the surrounding area to allow the Mississippi Braves and Chattanooga Lookouts to meet in Monday night's series finale. The Lookouts defeated the Braves 2-1 but the Braves took the series three-games-to-two.
The Braves travel to Tennessee for the final five games of the first half before the Southern League All-Star Break. Mississippi will return to Trustmark Park for a five-game homestand against the Jackson Generals June 19-23.
Mississippi (37-27) scored one run on eight hits. Chattanooga (26-39) plated two runs on seven hits. Gustavo Nunez and Barrett Kleinknecht collected two hits apiece. Daniel Mayora was the only Lookout to record a mulit-hit game.
After a 14 minute rain delay to start the game, the M-Braves and Lookouts got underway. Chattanooga took a 2-0 lead in the fourth. O'Koyea Dickson doubled and scored on Mayora's RBI-single to right field. Mayora stole second and took third on a fly out. He then came in to score on a Chris O'Brien double to right.
The M-Braves made it a 2-1 game in the sixth. Derrick Mitchell walked and Kyle Kubitza singled to start the inning. Kleinknecht then singled to right, driving home Mitchell.
Aaron Northcraft (7-3) gave up two earned runs on seven hits in seven innings pitched. He also struck out seven batters but suffered the loss.
Raydel Sanchez worked four innings for the Lookouts. He held the Braves to just four hits and a walk but was no eligible for the win.
Jarret Martin (1-1) gave up one earned run on two hits and two walks. He struck out one in two innings pitched and notched the win. Josh Ravin (S, 2) worked the final frame to pick up the save. Juan Gonzalez and Juan Noriega tossed scoreless innings to pick up holds.
After a day off, the M-Braves travel to Tennessee to take on the Smokies in the final five-game series of the first half. In game one of the series, M-Braves right-hander Jason Hursh (5-4, 3.43) counters Smokies righty Eduardo Figueroa (0-0, 0.00). First pitch is slated for 6:15 PM CST.
