Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (31-34) were swept in a double-header by the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (29-36) on Monday afternoon losing game on 6-2 then game two 9-2 at Riverwalk.
The Biscuits out-hit the Wahoos 12-9 in game one, but Montgomery stranded ten on base. Jake Hager put the Biscuits on the board with an RBI-single in the third and Jeff Malm singled in a run in the fourth, but the two run-scoring hits were the only runs scored by the Biscuits.
Juan Duran hit his third home run of the series - a solo shot in the second inning - to put the Wahoos on the board. After a three-run fourth and two more runs in the fifth, the game was out of reach for Montgomery.
Game two, was close through three innings. Juan Silverio's sacrifice fly drove in the only run of the game in the first three innings. Steve Selsky hit his first double-A home run in the third to spark a three-run inning that gave the Wahoos a 4-0 lead.
Biscuits fell apart in the fifth inning. Michael Colla and Santiago Garrido combined to walk four in the frame and allow three hits resulting in a five-run frame.
James Walczak struggled to find the zone in the ninth inning. With the bases loaded, he walked Luke Bailey before allowing Joey Rickard to hit a fly ball that scored Jeremy Moore.
After a day off on Tuesday, the Biscuits will open a five-game series with the Birmingham Barons on Wednesday night. LH Grayson Garvin will be on the hill for Montgomery while Birmingham will throw RH Nick McCully. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 at Regions Field.
