Unlucky Day for Jesus Lopez

Fort Wayne, IN - In a move retroactive to Wednesday, July 11, the Fort Wayne Wizards have placed infielder Jesus Lopez on the disabled list and the San Diego Padres have promoted infielder Ray Stokes from the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League.

Stokes was selected by the Padres organization in the 16th round of the 2006 June Amateur Draft out of Cal State East-Bay.

In his first season with the San Diego system, Stokes split time between the Emeralds and Arizona Rookie League Padres. He hit .225 in a total of 32 games between both clubs, finishing with three doubles and 10 runs batted in. He also stole three bases, all in Arizona.

This year, Stokes is hitting .255 with three doubles, a pair of triples and nine runs batted in. He has also walked 25 times and has a team-best nine stolen bases.

Lopez, who's last game before landing on the disabled list was Sunday, July 8 against the Lansing Lugnuts (Toronto Blue Jays affiliate), is currently hitting .244 with 11 doubles, a pair of triples and two home runs. His 30 RBI are third-best with the Fort Wayne offense.
