Lansing Lugnuts News Release
LANSING- The Lansing Lugnuts won their third straight game on Friday night, rallying for an 8-6 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers before 6,295 fans at Oldsmobile Park.
The Lugnuts fell behind in the first inning of play as Wisconsin put three runs on the board. Ron Garth's RBI single to left field plated Juan Diaz to open the scoring. Alex Liddi and Garth would then both score on an error by Sean Shoffit to push the lead to 3-0.
Lansing trailed 3-1 in the fifth when Chris Emanuele roped a single into right field to plate Jonathan Diaz to cut the lead to 3-2. The Lugnuts were able to tie it up in the next at-bat as Shoffit singled to left, scoring Emanuele from second base.
Wisconsin forged back ahead in the top of the sixth when Carlos Peguero doubled into left field to score Liddi, who had led the inning off with a double himself. Peguero would later score on a fielder's choice to make it a 5-3 lead for the Rattlers.
The lead would not last long though as Lansing opened the bottom of the inning with three consecutive doubles. The last two, one by Jonathan Baksh and the other by Josh Bell, each plated runs to tie the game at 5-5. Bell would later come home on an RBI groundout by Diaz.
The Lugnuts extended the lead in seventh when Baksh clubbed his first career homer, a two-run shot to right field to make it 8-5. It came in his 247th professional at-bat.
Graham Godfrey (5-4) got the win for the Lugnuts, as he allowed five runs on seven hits over six innings. Only two of the runs were earned.
Po-Hsuan Kneg notched his third save for the Lugnuts as well.
Lansing (47-43, 12-9) and Wisconsin (30-58, 8-12) will continue the series on Saturday night. Kyle Ginley (2-5, 5.47) will make the start for the Lugnuts, while Nathan Adcock (2-8, 3.92) will hurl for the Rattlers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with LAFCU Fireworks to follow the game.
