Philadelphia Union News Release
CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union beat the Colorado Rapids 2-1 on Saturday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The Union opened with an abundance of attacking opportunities, and nearly found the scoresheet in the 15th minute when forward Julian Carranza sent a shot just wide of the target. Colorado scored first when Connor Ronan converted from the penalty spot in the 38th minute. Defender Kai Wagner scored just before half to level the score with a left footed shot from outside the box. Minutes into the second half, the Union took the lead when defender Olivier Mbaizo found forward Julian Carranza who put the ball beyond the keepers reach to put the side up 2-1. The two sides exchanged scoring opportunities throughout the second half, but the Union were able to hold on to all three points on the road, and their second consecutive victory away from home.
