Austin FC News Release
Austin, TEXAS - Austin FC fell to a 1-0 defeat against FC Dallas on Saturday night at Q2 Stadium. The match attendance of 20,738 marked Austin's 42nd-consecutive MLS home sellout, extending the league's longest active streak.
The Verde & Black held Dallas without a shot on target through the first 45 minutes and came close to scoring themselves on two (2) occasions. Adam Lundkvist forced a diving save from Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes in the 40th-minute, and Emiliano Rigoni headed a cross from Lundkvist over the bar in first-half stoppage time.
Austin suffered a setback in the 54th-minute, when Rodney Redes was sent off for a second yellow card offense. Despite going down to 10 men, the hosts were unlucky not have an opportunity from the penalty spot. It appeared Dani Pereira was fouled after receiving a pass from Rigoni, but referee Ismail Elfath waved play on.
Austin's resistance was then broken in the 89th-minute, with Dallas forward Jesus Ferreira getting behind the defense and scoring the game's only goal.
