West Valley City, Utah - The Grand Rapids Griffins (27-13-8-0) had an 11-game unbeaten streak snapped on Friday night at The "E" Center. The Utah Grizzlies (15-25-4-3) used a shorthanded goal by Detroit native, Rob Valicevic and 24 saves by Mike Smith to post a 1-0 shutout.

Tim Wedderburn intercepted a pass at the Griffins blue line and slid a pass to Valicevic on the doorstep. Valicevic made a move and lifted the puck over a prone Marc Lamothe at 12:03 of the second period.

Lamothe made 17 saves in a losing effort.

The 11-game unbeaten streak ranks as the second-longest unbeaten streak in team history. The 2002-03 Griffins rattled off a 14-game unbeaten streak.

The Griffins maintain a five-point lead over the Chicago Wolves atop the West Division.

The same two teams will face off Saturday at The "E" Center at 9:05 p.m.
