LOOKING AHEAD:

Brad Boyes makes his return to Newfoundland as Cleveland visits St. John's on Friday and Saturday (7:35 NT, 6:05 ET). Boyes, a first-round pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2000, had 51 points in 65 games with St. John's last season before he was dealt to San Jose as part of the Owen Nolan deal in March. The 2003 AHL All-Rookie forward has bettered those numbers since the trade, recording 55 points in 61 games with the Barons. Miroslav Zalesak, the AHL's leading scorer, has recorded a point in 21 of his last 24 matches (16g, 15a) for Cleveland, which has won five of its last seven to take over second place in the North Division. Josh Holden has 12 points in his last nine games for the fifth-place Leafs.

Two division leaders collide on Friday when Philadelphia hosts Hartford at the Wachovia Spectrum (7:05 ET). The Phantoms share the AHL lead with 27 victories this season, including their last six straight at home and nine of their last 10 overall to climb into a tie atop the East. Antero Niittymaki has won six consecutive decisions for Philadelphia, allowing a total of one goal in his last three starts. Philadelphia's Boyd Kane and P.J. Stock are former members of the Wolf Pack, with Stock earning a Calder Cup ring in 2000; Paul Healey, a member of the Phantoms' 1998 title team, was recalled from Hartford by the N.Y. Rangers on Thursday.

Grand Rapids puts an 11-game unbeaten streak on the line on Friday and Saturday in Utah (7:05 MT, 9:05 ET), where the Grizzlies are out to end a five-game losing skid. The Griffins haven't lost since a 7-0 thumping by Milwaukee on Jan. 3; Utah's last win was a 2-1 decision on Jan. 14 against the same Admirals. 2004 AHL All-Star Nathan Robinson has a point in nine straight for the Griffins, who have opened up a seven-point lead over second-place Chicago in the West Division. Grand Rapids has won a league-high 14 road games this season; the record of 26 was set by the Griffins in 2002-03.
