Niagara IceDogs News Release
Niagara IceDogs General Manager, Joey Burke, has announced that goaltender Tucker Tynan and defenceman AJ Cook have signed with the team.
Tynan, a Chicago native posted a .80 goals against average, and a .956 save percentage last season with the Little Ceasars U16 program. The goalie was drafted in the tenth round, 192nd overall, by the IceDogs in this years' OHL Priority Selection, and has committed to the organization by signing his Standard Player Agreement.
GM Burke confirmed Tucker's signing earlier today, saying "This is a very exciting signing for us in Niagara. Tucker is a guy who is proven at every level he has played in, and put together one of the more impressive training camps I've seen. With this signing we have solidified our goaltending for the future, and we continue our tradition of having high end goalies in Niagara - which is instrumental in having success in this league."
Cook, a St. Catharines native was drafted in the fifteenth round, 296th overall, by the IceDogs in last years' (2017) OHL Priority Selection, and has committed to the organization by signing his Standard Player Agreement. Cook played 34 games last season at Ridley College, scoring 4 goals and 10 assists. The defenceman put together an impressive camp, turning heads in each game he played, contributing offensively.
GM Burke confirmed Cook's signing, saying "I am very excited to be able to sign AJ today. He is a guy who improved so significantly this past season that he would not be denied at camp. He is an extremely versatile player who can excel both on the back end and as a forward. AJ is yet another high end young player that we have signed here in Niagara, and will help provide us with longevity and success as we transition from our veteran group this season to our younger core next year. This is a very exciting time for our club, and this signing just goes to further validate that."
The entire Niagara IceDogs organization is excited to welcome Tucker and AJ to the organization!
