Tyler Johnson, Brett Connolly and Mark Barberio Named to AHL All-Star Teams

Syracuse, NY - The American Hockey League has named forward Tyler Johnson to the 2012-13 AHL First All-Star Team. Forward Brett Connolly and defenseman Mark Barberio were named to the Second All-Star Team.

AHL First and Second All-Star Teams are voted on by AHL coaches, players and media in each of the league's 30 member cities.

Johnson, 22, leads all Crunch players with 58 points (32g, 26a) in 59 games with the Crunch this season. The center's 32 goals ranks second in the AHL and first on the Crunch. His 58 points ranks 11th in the AHL. A native of Spokane, Wash., Johnson was signed as a free agent on March 7, 2011. He made his National Hockey League debut with the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 14, 2013.

Connolly, 20, has 57 points (27g, 30a) in 67 games with the Crunch this year. He has the 12th highest point total in the AHL and is third for game-winning goals with seven. The Campbell River, BC native ranks second on the Crunch in goals and third in assists. Connolly was drafted in the first round, sixth overall, by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Barberio, 23, is the reigning winner of the Eddie Shore Award for the AHL's most outstanding defenseman. He has played in 70 games and recorded 40 points (8g, 32a) this season. Barberio is fifth among AHL defenseman in scoring and third in assists. His 32 assists ranks second on the Crunch. The Montreal, Quebec native was selected by the Lightning in the sixth round, 152nd overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Barberio made his NHL debut April 9, 2013.

This is the first time in franchise history the Crunch have had three players named to the AHL All-Star team. Andy Delmore was named First Team All-Star in 2005-06. Mike Gaul and Radim Bicanek were both named second team all-stars in 2000-01.
